This page explains what we collect when you contact Lāsyamṛta Online, why we collect it, where it is kept, and how to have it removed. It covers the enquiry form on our home page and the “Book your first class” flow. Last updated September 2026.
Who we are
Lāsyamṛta Online is a small online school for classical Indian dance. When we say “we” or “us” below, we mean the teachers who run it. We teach worldwide over video and also teach in person in Kolkata, India.
What we collect
Through the enquiry forms, you may give us:
- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone / WhatsApp number.
- What you tell us about your dancing — the styles you are interested in, your experience level, your goal, your preferred time and timezone, and any notes you add.
- Whether you ticked the consent box.
- Basic technical context sent by your browser: the page you submitted from, the site or link that referred you, any campaign tags (
utm_*) in that link, and your browser’s user-agent string. We do not store your IP address.
Please don’t send us sensitive personal information (for example about health, religion, or finances) through these forms — we don’t need it to arrange a class.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use these details only to reply to you, arrange a trial class, and follow up about lessons. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising profiling. Campaign tags tell us which link brought you here so we know where to keep sharing about our classes.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box and submitting the form. Where local law (such as the EU/UK GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act) also recognises our taking steps at your request before entering into a service, we rely on that as well. You can withdraw consent at any time — see “Your choices” below.
Children
One of the reasons people contact us is to enrol a child. If your enquiry is about someone under the age of majority where you live, please submit it as their parent or legal guardian. By submitting, you confirm you are doing so on the child’s behalf and consent to our handling those details as described here. Contact us if you would like a child’s details removed.
Where your details are stored
Submissions are sent over an encrypted connection to a private Google Sheet held in the teachers’ Google Workspace/Google account, plus an email notification to us. Access is limited to the teachers who handle enquiries. Google processes and stores this data on our behalf; this can involve servers outside your country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for 24 months from your most recent contact with us, after which they are deleted or anonymised, unless you have become a student and we need them to provide lessons, or the law requires us to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain uses, or to complain to your data protection regulator.
To make any of these requests, reply to any message we have sent you or email classes@lasyamrita.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we aim to respond within one month.
The consent checkbox
Both forms carry a required consent checkbox. It reads:
I agree that Lāsyamṛta Online may store the details I've entered to contact me about classes, and — if this enquiry is about a child — that I'm their parent or guardian submitting on their behalf.
You cannot submit the form without ticking it. Submitting is entirely optional.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle enquiry data we will update this page and its “last updated” date.
